Modhera Sun Temple
Your first stop is the magnificent 11th-century Sun Temple at Modhera, dedicated to the Sun God. Built in 1026 AD by King Bhimdev I of the Solanki dynasty, this architectural masterpiece stands on the banks of the Pushpavati River.

Designed with remarkable precision, the temple is located near the Tropic of Cancer (23.5° latitude) and is illuminated by the first rays of the sun during the summer solstice. The structure is built on a lotus-shaped base and adorned with intricate carvings depicting scenes from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and other ancient texts.

Adjacent to the temple lies the stunning Suryakund, a grand stepped tank featuring 108 small shrines, showcasing exceptional symmetry and craftsmanship.

Rani ki Vav – The Queen’s Stepwell (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
Next, visit the extraordinary Rani ki Vav in Patan, a unique stepwell built by Queen Udayamati in memory of her husband, King Bhimdev I.

This seven-level stepwell is designed like an inverted temple and is renowned for its intricate sculptures and architectural excellence. Located on the banks of the Saraswati River, it beautifully represents the importance of water in Indian culture.

The stepwell features over 500 detailed sculptures, many depicting the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu, making it one of the most elaborate and artistic water structures in the world.

Patan – Patola Silk Weaving Experience
Continue to Patan, a historic town known for its world-famous Patola silk sarees. Witness the fascinating process of traditional double ikat weaving, one of the most complex textile techniques in the world.

Each saree is handcrafted by skilled artisans, often taking over 100 days to complete. Observe the weavers at work and gain insight into this centuries-old art form that reflects precision, patience, and cultural heritage.
